"Jimmy" Lane
January 6, 1946 – January 17, 2020
James Lamar "Jimmy" Lane, 74, of Nashville, died Friday January 17, 2020 in the Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 6, 1946 in Miller County to the late James Lester Lane and the late Myrtle Brown King. He was a farmer and retired Young Farmer's Advisor and Agricultural teacher with the Berrien County Board of Education after 35 years of service. During his teaching career, he received the Honorary Chapter Farmer, Honorary Georgia Planter, Honorary Georgia Young Farmer Member, State Young Farmer of the Year and Georgia Agricultural Education Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Louie Carroll Lane and Lynwood "Clay" Lane; half brother: Matt Lane.
He is survived by his wife: Rose Walton Lane of Nashville; 3 sons: Jamie (Stacey) Lane of Springboro, OH, Ashley (Kim) Lane of Nashville and Craig (Jessica) Lane of Nashville; 2 brothers: Gerald (Beth) Lane of Donaldsonville and Keith Lane of Colquitt; 8 grandchildren: Garret, Halleigh, Natalie Grace, Kaiya, Emery, Steel, Wood and Graelynn; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 21, 2020 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Cason and Rev Mark Swain officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 5 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Jimmy Lane Scholarship C/O Mr. Blake Kendrick, Berrien High School, 500 Smith Ave, Nashville, GA 31639.
