James Andrew "Jim" Mathis, 84, of Morven died Tuesday May 24, 2016 at the Fellowship Home in Valdosta.
He was born June 30, 1931 in Fort Pierce, FL to the late David Mathis and the late Carolyn Cowart Mathis. He was a teacher and coach for various school systems for several years and a retired landscaper. He attended Morven United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife: Jean Yeomans Mathis of Morven; son: James (Jaci) Mathis, Jr. of Hillsville, VA; and 2 grandchildren: Patty and Jace.
The family will honor his request for cremation and there will be no formal service.
