Roma Jean Smith, 85, of Nashville, died Thursday, July 9, 2026, in the Langdale Hospice House.

She was born June 2, 1941, in Berrien County to the late Austin Neal Blanton and the late Edith Jeanette Lord. She was a homemaker, worked at B.C. Moore’s and for many years was a medical clerk for Dr. Carter and Dr. Richbourg. She was a member of the Nashville Mission, loved her family and enjoyed making quilts. She was the widow of Earl J. Smith who died in 2022 and was also preceded in death by a daughter: Janet Lynn Smith, granddaughter: Laura Smith Webb, sister: Luneal Harper; 3 brothers: Wayne Blanton, Gary Blanton and Doyle Blanton.

She is survived by 2 sons: Dennis Smith of Nashville and Terry (Deanna) Smith of Valdosta; 3 sisters: Sue (Eddie) Vanzant of Hillard, FL, Ann (Duren) Bailey of Douglas and Faye (Lamar) Jones of Nashville; brother: Roger (Tanneta) Blanton of Douglas; 4 grandchildren: Derek Smith of Nashville, Deanna (Joe) Kusmisz of Roswell, Tara Smith of Valdosta and Katie (Ethan) Grenat Valdosta; 7 do great grandchildren; Damon (Katie), Anslie, Whalen, Lelyn, JoJo, Calvin and Parker; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 4 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Stan Nix and Rev. Freddie Stone officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 11 AM in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Sunday, in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of South Georgia.
