Jerry Thornton, 80, of Nashville, died Tuesday October 11, 2022 at his residence.
He was born April 12, 1942 in Wayne County to the late Jack Thornton and the late Sylvia Lightsey Henderson. He retired from Chaparral Boats and was a member of the Nashville Church of God. He loved his family, country music, fishing and always had a good laugh. He was preceded in death by his wife: Edith "Eve" Chewning Thornton who died in 1999; father who raised him: Benjamin Frank Henderson; daughter: Belinda Cope; sister: Eunive White; 2 brothers: F.M. Henderson and Shorty Henderson.
He is survived by his daughter: April Wilkes of Nashville; son: Jerry (Diane) Thornton of Winooski, Vermont; sister: Sheila Arnold of Ray City; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday October 16, 2022 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Walker officiating. Visitation is Sunday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Berrien County Animal Shelter or to Berrien County EMS.
