James "Jim" Karras, 85, of Nashville, died Wednesday April 21, 2021 in the Langdale Hospice House, Valdosta.
He was born September 17, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI to the late James J. Karras and the late Ernestine Koehler. He was a retired tech sergeant in the United States Air Force. After his retirement, he graduated from Valdosta State College with a marketing and business degree and retired from Amoco Fabrics as a marketing analyst. He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife: Margaret McMillan Karras who died in 1969.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy "Nan" Williams Karras of Nashville; son: Mark (Patti) Karras of Valdosta; step daughter: Kay (Jim) Daniel of Bella Vista, AR; step son: Dave (Shannon) Conner of Henderson, NV; 7 grandchildren: Maggie (Jon) Miller, Carter (Cady) Karras, Magan Daniel, Brandon Conner, Hannah Daniel, Jacob Daniel and Ali Conner; 3 great grandsons: Jack Miller, Emory Miller and Henry Karras.
Funeral services will be held Sunday April 25, 2021 at 4 PM in the Nashville First Baptist with the Rev. Keith Stewart and the Rev. Danny Ray officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Camp Rock of GA, Inc (P.O. Box 1528 Valdosta, GA 31603).
