Jim "Pony" Whidden, 85, of Nashville, died Wednesday January 31, 2024 at SGMC Berrien Campus.
He was born June 20, 1938 in Irwin County to the late Esau James Whidden and the late Mary Ethel Long Whidden. He was the owner of Whidden's Furniture Company and a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Berrien High School Class of 1956 and graduated from Mercer University in 1962. He was a very avid and accomplished golfer, winning numerous golf tournaments, was the Club Champion at Circlestone Country Club 13 times and the Senior Club Champion 5 times. He was preceded in death by a brother: Johnny Whidden.
He is survived by his wife: Sue Whidden of Nashville; son: Lee (Dana) Whidden of Hahira; 3 daughters: Lou Parker (Drew) Scott of Fernandina Beach, FL, Perrin Shaw of Roswell and Page (Matt) Henderson of Roswell; sister: Anne Young of Las Vegas, NV; brother: Jack Whidden of Morehead, KY; 7 grandchildren.
His family will honor his request for cremation and no formal services will be held.
