Obituary

Jimmie Randolph Gaskins, 89, of Alapaha, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 8, 1935, in Lanier County to the late Pleasant Marvin Gaskins and the late Golie Lee Sirmans Gaskins. He proudly served his country as a jet engine mechanic in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of honorable service, served in Vietnam, was a member of the Nashville VFW and American Legion. Following his military career, Jimmie worked as an auto mechanic alongside Buck Warren of Nashville for several years before his permanent retirement. He was a member of Flat Creek Church and was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Virginia Lee Harper Gaskins; 2 sisters: Bonnie Nell Voelker and Martha Brickle.

In his free time, Jimmie enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his strong work ethic, and his devotion to his loved ones.

He is survived by his daughter: Tammy (Donnie) Carter of Alapaha; his cherished grandchildren: Leroy "Kyle" Carter of Birmingham, AL, Jimmie "Lyle" Carter of Nashville, and Alexandria (Kyle) Thompson of Alapaha; treasured great granddaughter: Elizabeth "Ellie" Thompson and several nieces and nephews. Jimmie's legacy of love, resilience and strength will live on through his family and all who were blessed to know him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 23, 2025 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview cemetery with full military honors. Visitation is Tuesday one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers or a charity of your choosing. The family of Jimmie Randolph Gaskins would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for all acts of Kindness, love and support shown during this time of loss. Your prayers, visits and thoughtful gestures are deeply valued.
