Obituary

Jimmy Carroll Young, 81, of Nashville, died Saturday March 23, 2019 at his residence.

He was born July 10, 1937 in Cook County to the late Rev. Benjamin Glenn Young and the late Audrey Pearl Malpas Young Moore. He was a purchasing manager for ITT-Thompson in Adel and Valdosta, a carpenter with Jimmy and Jesus Construction and an independent life insurance agent. He was also a former Mayor of Sparks and an avid fisherman. He was a member and Bishop of the Living Word Ministries Outreach and  was preceded in death by his first wife: Mary Evelyn McCranie Young who died in 2001. He was also preceded in death by a son: Phillip Carroll Young and a brother: Paul G. Young.

He is survived by his wife: Fonda Roberson Young of Nashville; 2 daughters: DeeDee (Michael) Rountree of Adel and Stacy Powell of Atlanta; 2 sons: Chad (Allison) Carpenter of Tifton and Eric Powell of Charleston, SC; 7 grandchildren: Drew Young, Kayla (Jeff) Hopkins, Amber Young, Courtney (Cass) Dorminey, Brock Rountree, Bo Carpenter and Kate Carpenter; 7 great grandchildren: Chloe, Finnleigh, Madison, Meredith, Laegan, Hayze and Evie Krae; sister: Audrey (Jimmy) Dickerson of Adel; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a special dog: Buddy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 26, 2019 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Cercy, Rev. Marvin Booth and the Rev. Charles Blair officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
