Joe Russell Nix, 82, of Nashville, died Sunday January 22, 2017 at his residence with his wife of 55 years.
He was born January 11, 1935 in Berrien County to the late Elbert Nix and the late Maxie Harper Nix. He was a retired farmer and U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church where he served as deacon, usher and member of the Men's Fellowship Class. He was an active part of the New Lois Community, young farmers and little league baseball. He was preceded in death by a sister: Ouida Carter and brother: Hank Nix.
He is survived by 5 sons: Mark (Stacey) Nix of Valdosta, Greg (Michelle) Nix of Nashville, Doug (Loren) Nix of Nashville, Dan (Rachel) Nix of Nashville and Stan (Betsy) Nix of Nashville; 3 sisters: Mary Beth (Paul) Harris of Nashville, Juanell Haskins and Sue (Donald) Powell; brother: Bobby (Bonnie) Nix of Nashville; 18 grandchildren: Sarah, Madison, Mary Grace, Ariel, Kayla, Lucy, Molly, Beau, Bart, Josie, Liza, Baker, Chloe, Allie, Noah, Lydia, Natalie and Nathan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 25, 2017 at 11 AM in the Nashville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Stewart and the Rev. Stanley Luke officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Nashville First Baptist Church.
