John Robert Hughes, 85, of Nashville, died Monday January 19, 2015 at his residence.
He was born August 31, 1929 in Berrien County to the late Willie Irvin Hughes and the late Loudell Warren Hughes. He was a retired farmer, retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as county foreman, and was of the Holiness faith. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Kathleen Gaskins Hughes and a brother: James Hughes.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Harnage Hughes of Nashville; 2 daughters: Joyce (Bob) Windom of Moultrie and Evonne Hughes of Nashville; 2 sons: Rev. Vernon (Mary Nell) Hughes of Nashville and Jerry (Carol) Hughes of Nashville; 2 step sons: Benny (Donna) Barber of Perry and Darrell (Brenda) Barber of Nashville; step daughter: Peggy (Raymond) Tucker of Valdosta; 2 brothers: L.C. Hughes of Lake Park and Ronnie Hughes of Nashville; 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Dean and the Rev. Ben Culpepper officiating. Interment will follow in the Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5-8 PM.
