John Thomas Kent, 84, of Nashville died Sunday February 26, 2017 at his residence.
He was born November 28, 1932 in Berrien County to the late Lucious John Kent and the late Dolly Griner Kent. He retired as the local manager for Suburban Gas in 1997 and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member, deacon, Sunday School Teacher and song leader at Flat Creek Church. He also served as cemetery sexton for Flat Creek Cemetery. He was the widower of Cleo Rowan Kent who died in 2009, and was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Allen Kent and Russell Kent.
He is survived by 2 sons: Jon (Karen) Kent of Alapaha and Keith (Barbara Patricia) Kent of Nashville; 2 sisters: Wanda Duvall of Jacksonville and Sandy Rogers of Sale City; 3 grandchildren: Kyle Ryan Kent, Randy Aaron Kent and Kristin Paige Kent; great granddaughter: Isley Claire Kent; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 1, 2017 at 2 PM in Flat Creek Church with Rev. Mickey Lindsey and Rev Gary James officiating. Interment will follow in Flat Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
