John Wilson Nix's Obituary
John Wilson Nix, 72, died Wednesday February 15, 2012 at his residence in Taylorsville, GA.
He was born in Rockmart, GA on February 4, 1940 to Woodrow and Mildred Edwards Nix. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Jerry Scott Nix and Aaron Nix.
He attended Cedartown High School, Young Harris College and later graduated from Shorter College with a degree in education. He had a long career as a high school teacher and athletic coach for several schools in Georgia (including Berrien High School). He served as principal of Fitzgerald High School, then as assistant superintendent of Ben Hill County Schools, before retiring as transportation director of Ben Hill County School System.
He is survived by his wife: Sue Taylor Nix of Taylorsville, sons: John (Diane) Nix, Jr, and Clay Nix of Taylorsville; brother: Byron Nix of Wedoweee, AL; and grandsons: Daniel Nix, Nathan Nix, and Zachery Nix all of Murfreesboro, TN.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 18, 2012 at 3 PM in the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Towns officiating. Interment will be in church cemetery.
