John Keith Purvis, 73, of Alapaha died Sunday January 20, 2013 in Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 18, 1939 in Ocilla, GA to the late Tally Leo Purvis and the late Lilly DeBerry. He was a retired auto mechanic and known as a "Mr. Fix It". He was a member of the Alapaha Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by a sister.
He is survived by: his wife, Othell Alexander Purvis of Alapaha; daughter: Daphne (LaWayne) Taylor of Nashville; son, Keith (Reejeana) Purvis of Alapaha; sister: Jane Goodman of Alapaha; 2 brothers: Charles Purvis of Alapaha and Hughlon Purvis of Enigma; 3 grandchildren: Bryce Phillips, Kade Purvis, and Ryder Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Alapaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Glory Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 PM until 8 PM.
