Obituary

Johnny Rentz Brantley, 77, of Nashville, died Wednesday January 4, 2023 at his residence.

He was born April 1, 1945 in Berrien County to the late Walter Rentz Brantley and the late Hazel Futch Brantley. He retired as a technician with Xerox with 32 years of service, was a veteran in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. He attended the Nashville Mission where he played the guitar for many years. He loved playing music and for many years he also played with the Believer's and the Back Porch Pickers. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sara Dene Powers Brantley who died on August 11, 2022; 3 sisters: Janet Chouinard, Nancy Brantley Sumner and Gloria Faye Brantley Suggs.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Sherri (Roger) Herring of Ray City and Tracie (Robert) Sirmans of Nashville; 3 grandchildren: Jonathon Jones, Stone (Callie) Sirmans and Amber Sirmans; a great grandson: River Jade Jones; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday January 7, 2023 at 6 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Boykin officiating. Visitation is Saturday one hour prior to the service.
