Obituary

Thomas Jorden Flanders, 92, of Ocilla, died Monday November 29, 2021 at Augusta University Hospital.

He was born March 10, 1929 in Berrien County to the late James Wesley Flanders and the late Irene Gray Flanders. He was a supervisor for Hubert Moore Lumber Company and along with his wife, owned and operated Flanders Café for 22 years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was well known as the "The Bulldozer Man". He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Joyce Dillard Flanders; son: Joey Flanders; 3 sisters: Elizabeth Akins, Wilma Jones and Dalpha Giddens; 3 brothers: Charles Flanders, James Flanders and Lewis Flanders; grandson: Eric Flanders.

He is survived by his daughter: Sandy Givens of Nashville; sister: Ella Mae Nugent of Alapaha; daughter-in-law: Nancy Flanders of Lenox; 3 grandchildren: Heath (Leigh Ann) Flanders of Lenox, Justin Givens of Nashville and Michelle Walker of Nashville; 7 great grandchildren: Cameron, Alaya, Cambrie, T.J., Landon, Bryce and J.J.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday December 4, 2021 at 11 AM in the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Freddie Stone, Rev. Michael Bennett and Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday in the church one hour prior to the service.
