Joseph Randy "Gomer" Futch, 63, of Nashville, died Wednesday January 7, 2015 in the Berrien Nursing Center.
He was born July 14, 1951 in Hahira to the late John H. Futch and the late Charlotte Gaskins Futch. He retired clerk with the US Postal Service, worked as a deputy with the Berrien County Sheriff's Office, served as Chief of Police for Nashville Police Department, worked with Watson Pest Control and attended A New Way Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran, a Mason, and a member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Albert Futch and a sister, Virginia Taylor.
He is survived by his wife: Pam Gaskins Futch of Nashville; 2 sons: Darian (Tracy) Futch of Laredo, TX, and Dusty Futch of Nashville; 2 grandchildren: Jason and Amanda Futch; 2 brothers: Larry Futch of Nashville and Tommy Futch of Summertown, TN; 4 sisters: Johniette Sizemore of Nashville, Betty Sue Futch of Nashville, Durinda Talley of Montgomery, AL and Sherrie Batten of Pearson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday January 11, 2015 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Bennett and the Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Saturday after 4 PM with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
