Joyce "MiMi" Mathis, 79, of Enigma, died Thursday March 10, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
She was born December 12, 1942 in Berrien County to the late James Alvin Rowan and the late Lois Amanda Vickers Rowan. She was a homemaker and retired lab technician with the Department of Agriculture. She was a member of Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church and her greatest love and enjoyment were her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Tom Rowan, Charles Rowan, Venton Rowan and Bobby Rowan; sister: Ovieda Ivemeyer.
She is survived by her husband: Sonny Mathis of Enigma; 4 sons: Marty (April) Mathis of Moultrie, Mike (Tricia) Mathis of Lexington, Andy Mathis of Elberton and Steven (Margo) Mathis of Nashville; 2 sisters: Reba Johnson of Florence, SC and Diana (Dick) Bigler of Clarksville; brother: Randy (Martha) Rowan of Naylor; 7 grandchildren: Will (Maddie), Bryce, Ben, Mitchell, Retta, Mattie Mae and Rowan; great granddaughter: Iris; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday March 13, 2022 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Sunday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch.
