Joe Thomas "J.T." Nix, 94, of Nashville died Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the residence of his son.

He was born April 15, 1931, in Berrien County to the late Thomas Calvin Nix and the late Beulah Luke Nix. He was a heavy equipment operator with the Berrien County Road Department, welder, farmer and worked at the Winn Dixie warehouse in Jacksonville, FL. He loved his family, reading his Bible, going to church and listening to gospel music. He was known for his whistling, horse trading, liked being outside and fishing. He was a member of Flat Creek Church, a charter member of the VFW Post #5378, served in the United States Army and in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a son: Carroll Wayne Nix; sister Betty Martin; brother Ulmer Nix; half-sisters: Elouise Gaskins, Rue Dell Wheeler and May Dee Yancey.

He is survived by his wife: Loudell Griner Nix of Nashville; son: Rev. John (Laura) Nix of Nashville; 2 daughters: Peggy (Garry) Rowan of Nashville and Darlene Nix (Ted) Dopson of Jacksonville; 7 grandchildren: Derek (Sherry) Rowan, Elisa (Taylor) Strickland, Charity (Brad) Wilson, Joshua Dewitt Nix, Trent (Kristin) Desin, Danny (Jordan) Nix and Khloe Dopson; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Dean Connell of Nashville and Glenda Faye (Braxton) Bailey of Nashville, Christine Burch of Jacksonville, FL and Ernestine Browning of Reidsville; brother: Billy (Evonne) Nix of Lakeland; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11 AM in Flat Creek Church with Rev. John Nix, Rev. Mickey Lindsey and Mr. Danny Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is in the church one hour prior to the service.
