Obituary

Julia Esther Partin, "Sis", 88, of Nashville passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday August 21, 2011 surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on September 10, 1922 in Blenheim, SC to the late Joel I Parker and Martha Francis Hudson Parker. She was the third of eight children: Marion, Jack, Mary, Buster, Diantha, Westelle, and Edith.

Julia moved to Utah in the 1940's where she met a handsome serviceman on a Greyhound bus bound for a home visit. She later married that serviceman, Daunt P. Partin, in a civil ceremony on September 7, 1949. During the first 10 years of marriage, Daunt and Julia had 5 children, all the while moving from one military assignment to another. She kept track of everyone during all the ups and downs of normal life amongst much laughter, tears, yells, and hugs. Those in the know, knew she was the "power behind the throne". Julia and Daunt had 49 years together before he preceded her in death in 1998.

She was active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She and her family were sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968.

Julia is survived by her four daughters: Shirley Jean Stevens of Great Falls, MT, Iris Elaine Reed of Jacksonville, FL, Marian Dawn Pettit of Little Rock, AR, and Sherry Lynne Partin of Nashville; son: Gary Wayne Partin of Norman, OK; 3 sisters: Mary Raynor of Maryland, Edith Rose of Maryland, and Westelle Dahlgren of California; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 25, 2011 at 2 PM in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nashville. Interment will follow in the Tift Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM.
