Rev. John Robert Swain, Jr. "Junior", 89, of Nashville died Sunday, October 30, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. He was born February 8, 1933, in Berrien County to the late J.R. Swain, Sr, and Pearl Dampier Swain. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Russell Swain and Gene Swain.

Junior was a retired farmer, former owner/barber of Swain's Barber Shop. He was a retired minister of the gospel of Christ; pastored several churches over the course of his lifetime including: Ruth Forester Missionary Baptist Church, Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member for 61 years and served as a deacon before being called into ministry, Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Knights Memorial Baptist Church and Tanner Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years: Ora Mae Swain of Nashville Fellowship Home; daughter, Debra (Ricky) Prince of Metter, Ga; daughter, Brenda Swain of Nashville; son, Don (Vicki) Swain of Nashville; one sister, Jo Ann (Earl) Browning of Nashville; 6 grandchildren, Rev. Deran (Darlene Hardeman, Craig (Meshea) Hardeman and Caleb (Mandi) Hardeman; Eric (Valerie) Swain, Leanne Walden and Andrew (Sara Jean) Swain; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 2, 2022 at 4 PM in the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Deran Hardeman, Rev. Phillip Simmons and Rev. J.W. Dukes III officiating. Interment will follow in the Poplar Springs cemetery. Visitation is at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
