J.W. Stone, 86, of Lakeland, died Monday December 6, 2021, at the Langdale Hospice House.

He was born April 9,1935 in Lowndes County to the late James Melvin Stone and the late Gladys Pearl Wilson Stone. He was a retired residential building contractor and building inspector. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeland. veteran of United States Marine Corps and preceded in death by 11 sisters and brothers.

He is survived by his wife: Sara Coppage Stone of Lakeland; 2 daughters: Teresa (Donald) Lasseter of Adel and Cindy (Freddy) Moore of Nashville; 4 grandchildren: Jessica (Richie) Richeson, Jason (Whitney) Lasseter, Kevin (Lindsey) Moore and Matthew Moore; 6 great grandchildren: Bray, Conner, Sawyer, Davis, Campbell and Briggs.

He will be fondly remembered by his family as a loving, selfless husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved the Lord and his family above all else.

Private family graveside services were held Thursday December 9,2021 at 2 PM in the Nashville Memorial Gardens and the Rev. Michael Bass officiated. His grandsons and sons-in-law served as pallbearers. Memorials are requested to Hospice of South Georgia.
