Karlene Spires, 80, of Nashville died Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta.
She was born August 12, 1945, in Henry County to the late George Washington Holbrook and the late Beulah Mae Rudeseal Holbrook. She was a homemaker, worked at Nashville Mills and Chapparal Boats. She attended Flat Creek Church, loved her family and working with her flowers. She was the widow of Thermon Spires who died in 2004 and was also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Sue Owenby, Polly Holbrook and Ruby Craig; 2 brothers: Ed Holbrook and Fred Holbrook.
She is survived by a daughter: Karen Spires of Ray City; son: Robert Spires of Nashville; 4 sisters: Gladys Griffin of Nashville, Dori Price of Nashville, Jean London of Idaho and Gail Barker of Valdosta; brother: Buddy Holbrook of Toccoa; 3 grandchildren: Robbie Spires of Nashville, Jessica Tarlton of Griffin and James Pearson of Alabama; a great grandson: Callen; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11 AM in the Crossroads cemetery with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating. Visitation is in the cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service.
