Kay Frances Shenton, 88, passed away at SGMC- Valdosta on Sunday, February 15,2026. She was born on February 12, 1938, to the late Charles Brown and Elaine Gibson Brown.
Kay graduated from Laurel High School in 1956. She had a career as a secretary, employed by the National Security Agency and at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland.
In 1964, she met the love of her life, Henry Shenton, and they later married in January 1965. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love, partnership and commitment, lasting 52 wonderful years until his passing.
Kay had a creative spirit and was especially known for painting. She created many pieces of artwork that are cherished by her family. She also enjoyed baking and homemaking.
She was a woman of deep faith and a longtime member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Glen Burnie MD. She was also an active member of several Democratic Clubs in Anne Arundel County MD.
Kay will be remembered for her kindness, smile and the love she shared freely with those around her. She was a wonderful mother that cared deeply for her family. Her legacy will be the loving memories and life lessons that she imparted to her children.
She is survived by Marla Lynch and husband Gerry, Mark Shenton and Malane Kerner and husband John; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and other friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sons Charles Travers and Henry Shenton, Jr.
A private burial will take place in the Spring at Meadow Ridge Cemetery in Elkridge, MD.
