William Kenneth McLendon, 87, of Nashville, died Friday January 10, 2025 at his residence.

He was born June 23, 1937, in Berrien County to the late Roger William McLendon and the late Pauline Cooper McLendon.

He attended schools in Berrien County and graduated from Cairo High School, Class of 1955. He attended Abraham Baldwin College and Georgia Southern College. He served his country in the National Guard and married Beverly Vickers, on September 25, 1965. He owned and operated M&M Ice & Cold Storage in Cairo for 25 years, selling it in 1989 and retiring.

He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church. He was an ordained deacon, having been ordained in 1970, served as an active deacon, Sunday School director and on many committees in Gordon Heights and Long Branch churches before his health prevented him from regular attendance. He was preceded in death by a sister: Patsy Hopkins and a brother: Charles McLendon.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Beverly McLendon of Nashville; 3 sons: Bill (Jenny) McLendon of Hahira, Chuck (Melanie) McLendon of Carrollton and John (Rhona) McLendon of Tallahassee, FL; 8 grandchildren: Meredith, Cole and Grant of Hahira, Mitch, Miles and Cam of Carrollton, Cailyn and Raelyn of Tallahassee, FL; 2 sisters: Nancy (Jerry) Shiver of Tifton and Nina Nicholson of Thomasville; many nieces and nephews; special friends: Darrell and Karen Bryan.

A memorial service will be held Sunday January 19, 2025 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. The family especially wants to thank his caregivers; Brenda Jones, Robin Mosteiko-Jalbert and employees of Empyrean Hospice.
