Obituary

Kenneth Paul “KP” Pleasants, 83, of Alapaha, died Thursday, August 20, 2026, at his residence.

He was born October 6, 1942, in Washington, DC to the late Walter S. Pleasants and the late Margret Merk Pleasants. He was a retired master sergeant, aircraft engine mechanic with the United States Air Force, where he did 3 tours in Vietnam and worked 20 years with civil service.

He lived in St. Pete Beach as a child and lived there until he joined the Air Force in 1961. He retired from the Air Force in 1981 and owned his own front end alignment shop for 3 years in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1985, he went to work at Eielson Air Force Base in civil service as an engine technical representative for the F-16 and A-10. He was the commander of North Pole VFW for 7 years, the inspector of all the Alaskan VFWs for 3 years and retired as the lead supervisor in 2005.

He moved to Georgia and fell in love with the farm life and farming. He had a great love for his wife Gail, his family, the military, his military family and all his pets. He was always ready and willing to help anyone. He never met a stranger, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved NASCAR, Alanta Braves, New York Yankees, Florida Gators and dancing. He traveled all over the United States and many countries in his life with the Air Force and his dear wife Gail. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Monica Molinar, brother: Walter Pleasants, Jr and 2 granddaughters: Gracie and Elina Holmes.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Gail Hancock Pleasants of Alapaha; son: Kenny (Rachel) Pleasants of Fairbanks, AK; 2 daughters: Lisa (Reliegh) Haynes of Nashville and Erin (Larry) Young of Tifton; son: Brooks (Patty) Bailey of Nashville; son-in-law: Ruben Molinar of Pahrump, NV; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. John Nix officiating. Visitation is Tuesday in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
