Obituary

Lamar Jackson Porter, 62, of Alapaha died Sunday September 15, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 14, 1957 in Berrien County to Fred Jackson Porter and the late Mary Nell Rutherford Porter.  He was employed as a mechanic with Georgia DOT and member of Independent Worship Center.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and truly loved his family.

He is survived by his wife: Joy Elaine Lusk Porter of Alapaha; 4 daughters: Melissa (Junior) Wilson of Claremore, OK, Veronica (Brian) Bowers of Hobbs, NM, Lorraine Porter of Vidalia and Katie (Qwenton) Sapp of Alapaha; 3 sons: David Roland of Dawsonville, Jeffrey Porter of Vidalia and Jason Porter of Vidalia; father: Fred (Blondean) Porter of Nashville; 2 sisters: Joyce Lynn (Jerry) Hewatt of Monroe and Marsha Nell (David) Snipes of Madison; 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 18, 2019 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hewatt and the Rev. Tim Henry officiating. Interment will follow in Vickers Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
