John Land "Lanny" Weaver, Jr., 75, of Donalsonville died Sunday February 16, 2020 at his residence.
He was born October 1, 1944 in Cook County to the late John Land Weaver and the late Mary Sue Moore Weaver. He retired with civil service at Moody Air Force Base in Civil Engineering after 32 years of service. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, member of Duncan Lodge #234, Royal Arch Mason and Knights Templer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving on the USS Power and retired United States Army Reserve after 18 1/2 years. He was active in Woodmen of the World, Order of the Easter Star Valdosta Chapter #234 and Order of the Amaranth Christina Court #18. He was a member of the Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church and served as treasurer of the men's club. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Linda Dianne Reeves Weaver who died February 16, 1999. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Larry Weaver.
He is survived by his wife: Deborah Weaver of Donalsonville; 2 daughters: Margaret (Riley) O'Berry of Valdosta and Maggie (Donald) Bloodworth of Hawkinsville; 2 sons: James (Susan) Weaver of Nashville and Chris (Karesa) Roush of Nashville, TN; sister: Rosemary (Jim) Ortiz of Stuart, FL; brother: William (Polly) Weaver of Murphy, NC; eight grandchildren: Victoria (Michael) Corbin, Shaw Vickers, Sage O'Berry, Shelby Vickers; Erik Roush, Daniel Bloodworth, Nichole Souza and Justin Tallman; one great grandson: Weston Souza; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 19, 2020 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Tammy Fincannon, Rev. Riley O'Berry and the Rev. Maggie Bloodworth officiating. Interment will follow in New Ramah Cemetery with Masonic and Military honors. Visitation is Tuesday 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Georgia Diabetes Research Foundation.
