Larry Edward Smith, 71, of Lakeland died Friday May 3, 2019 at his residence.

He was born April 2, 1948 in Dalton, GA to the late Odie Leo Smith and the late Norma Jean Rich Parker.  He was a retired SSGT with 23 years in the  U. S. Marine Corps and a Vietnam veteran. He was also a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and a life member of the Nashville Post VFW and Duncan Masonic Lodge #234.  He was preceded in death by a sister: Helen Rebecca "Tootsie" Smith.

He is survived by a sister: Kay (Terry) Frazier of Nashville; 3 brothers: Richard (Elizabeth) Smith of Fitzgerald, Joe Yother of Dalton and Odie Gregory "Greg" (Christina) Smith of Nashville; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service with full military honors will be held Sunday May 5, 2019 at 3 pm in Guthrie Cemetery with the Rev. David Akins officiating.  Visitation is Sunday from Noon-2 pm at Lovein Funeral Home.
