Russell Linwood “Red” Rowan, 72, of Nashville, died Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at SGMC Berrien Campus.

He was born April 23, 1954, in Lowndes County to the late Ralph A. Rowan and the late Alene Singletary Rowan. He was a retired insurance agent for Farm Bureau and for 32 years was the agency manager in Homerville. He loved his family, people, absolutely never met a stranger and loved his God. His biggest treasure was his grandchildren, always doing for others with a servant’s heart, was loud and proud, loved the Panthers and will always be “Roll Red Roll”. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he served in many areas and will be remembered as the head cook. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Earl Wayne Rowan and Wallace Rowan.

He is survived by his wife: Melanie Gibbs Rowan of Nashville; daughter: Amber (Larkin) Landrum of Nashville; 2 sons: Josh Rowan of Nashville and Heath (Jessica) Rowan of Folkston; 3 sisters: Cheryl Luke of Nashville, Lydia Carlton of Coolidge and Lajuana Chafin of Norman Park; 7 grandchildren: Rachel (Travis) Tankersley, Ashley Rowan, Bailey Rowan, Aiden Rowan, Kamren Rowan, Lettie Landrum and Tristan Landrum; 3 great grandchildren: Lillian, Conley Jane and Graham; several nieces and nephew.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2 PM at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Homerville with the Rev. Austin Deloach and the Rev. Jerry Baldree officiating. Interment will follow in the Empire cemetery. Visitation is Monday in the church from 12 to 2 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
