2nd Lieutenant Barry Ray Jones, RN

Lt. Barry Ray Jones, 29, was born April 19, 1982, passed away on Tuesday August 23, 2011 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Lt. Jones will be escorted from San Antonio, Texas to his final resting place by Ret. Ssgt. Robert Potts of the United States Air Force. Lt. Jones will receive full military honors hosted by Army personnel from Fort Benning, Georgia and the Patriot Riders.

Barry, a 2nd Lt. in the United States Army, served as a registered nurse at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Lt. Jones graduated from Berrien High School in 2000, and subsequently graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing. Lt. Jones served as Secretary of Valdosta State University's Association of Nursing Students and was readily appointed as an executive board member of Georgia's Association of Nursing Students.

Lt. Jones is survived by his parents, USAF Ret. Msgt. Robert Ray Jones (AMMO) and Terrie Lea Jones of Ray City; 2 brothers: Adam Jones, 22, (GCO) and USAF, A1C Christopher Jones, 20, (EOD); 4 sisters: Nicole Williams, 28, Savannah Barber, 19, Sydney Jones, 11, and Alexandria Mackenzie Jones, 5. He is also survived by 2 nieces Madison Williams and Macy Jones; 3 nephews: Brady Williams, Brandon Jones, and Conner Jones. Paternal grandparents are Ray and Veronica Jones of Townville, SC; maternal grandparents are USAF Ret. Msgt. Michael Sperling (AMMO) and the late Barbara Jean Sperling. His step grandmother is Sherry Sperling.

Funeral services will be held Thursday September 1, 2011 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Palmer officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Beaver Dam cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM.
