Obituary

Marcus Eugene "Gene" Watson, 86, of Nashville died Saturday May 11, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Lake City, FL.

He was born February 1, 1933 in Lanier County to the late William Marcus Watson and the late Eldia Boyett Watson.  He was a retired farmer, worked with the Nashville Police Department as a dispatcher and years ago owned a gas station in Folkston. He was a member of Flat Creek Church, served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Nashville VFW.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Clemestine Bennett Watson who died in 1996.  He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Zettie Lee Ray and Annie Alma King; 6 brothers: Corley Roy Watson, William Curtis Watson, L. C. Watson, J. D. Watson, Billie James Watson and Jack Thomas Watson.

He is survived by his sister: Mary Nell Yarbrough of Lakeland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday May 16, 2019 at 11 AM in Flat Creek Church with the Rev. Bill Watson and the Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating.  Interment will follow in Nashville Memorial Gardens.  Visitation is Wednesday 6-8.
