Marie McConnell, 98, of Nashville, died Saturday November 14, 2015 in the Langdale Hospice House.

She was born September 12, 1917 in Berrien County to the late J. Henry Mathis and the late Toye Patten Mathis. She was a retired operations clerk with the former First National Bank of Valdosta and a member of the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Evelyn Nix and Bea Rexer.

She is survived by 3 nieces: Billie Ruth Wright, Gay Glover and Jenny Marie Whitmoyer; 5 nephews: Wendell Nix, Emerson Nix, Wilson Nix, Bill Rexer, Jr. and Patten Rexer; 16 great nieces and nephews; 11 great great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday November 17, 2015 at 2 PM in the Westview Cemetery with the Rev. J.W. Dukes III officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from Noon to 1:45 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to Poplar Springs Church or a Hospice of choosing.
