Obituary

Marlene Ellis Carter, 69, of West Berrien died Sunday October 7, 2018 at Legacy Village in Tifton.

She was born February 25, 1949 in Lakeland, FL to the late Thomas Jefferson Ellis and the late Lucille Tyre Ellis .  She was a retired educator with the Berrien County Board of Education, Tift County Board of Education, GED teacher at Wiregrass Technical College - Tifton Campus and a member of Brookfield Baptist Church.  She was the widow of Kenton Winston Carter who died in 2013 and was also preceded in death by a daughter: Kendra Marlene Carter; a sister: Elizabeth McCollister; 2 brothers: William Ellis and Thomas Jerry Ellis.

She is survived by a daughter: Karla (Daniel) Mallard of West Berrien; son: Kenyon (Christine) Carter of Atlanta; 2 grandchildren: Gabrielle and Kason; sister: Linda Garrett of Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Mallard officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday 7-9 PM.  Memorials may be made to Bethany Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
