Mary Chambless Jones, 92, of Nashville passed away on Tuesday March 24, 2020 at her residence.

Mary was born on July 14, 1927 in Berrien County to the late John J. Chambless, Sr. and the late Blanche Bowden Chambless.  She was a homemaker and  devoted mother and grandmother.  She lived in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Rhode Island, Cuba, Canada, Brunswick and Albany, Georgia before retiring to Nashville in 1973.  An avid traveler, she visited many other states and countries during her life.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nashville, where she was active in the Philathea Sunday School Class, the Senior Adult Choir and Joy Senior Adults.  She was also a member of the Huxford Genealogical Society in Homerville and the VFW 5978 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill Jones ; three sisters: Etna Culbreath, Alstine Heath and Helen Hatcher Harris; three brothers: John J. Chambless, Rudolph J. Chambless and Ira Chambless.

She is survived by one son: James Billy Jones, Jr. of Melrose, FL; two daughters: Marice Darlene (Tim) Scarborough of Merritt Island, FL and Yvonne Hammond of Nashville; four grandchildren: Timothy Scarborough, David Scarborough, Chasile Hammond and Tosha Jones; two great grandchildren: Will Hammond and Faithy Jones.

A private family graveside service will be held in Flat Creek Cemetery Thursday March 26, 2020 with Rev. Mark Addington and Rev. Keith Stewart officiating.  Due to COVID-19, no public services will be held.
