Mary Alice Clyatt Thomas, 81, of Adel, died Friday September 27, 2013 in the South Georgia Medical Center.
She was born October 2, 1931 in Dawson, Georgia to the late William Edwin "Ed" Tygart and the late Juanita Felton Parrish. She was a homemaker and retired educator, having taught and inspired students for over thirty years. She influenced many children with her positive outlook and thirst for knowledge. She was a member of the Adel First Baptist Church and was a former member of the Nashville First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Dr. Bobby Merle Clyatt and John Colquitt "J.C." Thomas.
She is survived by her son: Robert M. "Bob" Clyatt of Lake Park; daughter: Terri Clyatt of Valdosta; six grandchildren: Griffin Clyatt, Madelyn Clyatt, Christy Clyatt, Cari (Richard) Wilkes, Tina (Richie) Robert, and Jill Pressley; 6 great grandchildren; 3 step sons: John Colquitt Thomas, Jr, Tom Thomas, and Dr. Bill Thomas; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday September 30, 2013 at 4:30 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 6 PM. Memorials are requested to the children's charity known as: Kids' Chance, Inc. at www.kidschance.org.
