Mary Ellen Dixon Crisp, 88, of Nashville, died Saturday August 31, 2024 at her residence.
She was born February 23, 1936 in Berrien County to the late Carl Mathis Dixon and the late Aline Paulk Dixon. She was a homemaker and member of the Nashville First Baptist Church. We will never know this side of heaven the number of lives she has touched in her lifetime. If you knew her, you probably have eaten her cooking or have had one of her famous pecan pies baked especially for you. God sure broke the mold when he made this lady but I hope her heart of gold continues to live in us all. Her smile brings us great joy to know that she is with her Lord and Savior. She was the widow of Paul Dean Crisp who died in 2010. She is also preceded in death by her step mother: Jean Barrentine Dixon; daughter-in-law: Rose Spurlock; sister-in-law: Marian Dixon; nephew: Bert Jones and great nephew:Drew Dixon.
She is survived by 2 sons: Dick Spurlock of Alapaha and Woody Spurlock of Alapaha; step daughter: Michelle Lynn of Tallahassee, FL; sister: Joyce Tully of Colquitt; 4 brothers: Joe (Barbara) Dixon of Alapaha, Mark (Charlotte) Dixon of Dothan, AL, Steve (Rhonda) Dixon of Alapaha and Wayne (Michelle) Jones of Nashville; 5 grandchildren: Mandy (Aaron) Thomas, Julie (Denise) Shirley, Carla Spurlock Akridge, Casey (Kelly) Spurlock and Kyle (Hannah) Spurlock; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 4, 2024 at 3 PM in the Nashville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Luke and Rev. John Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fletcher cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alapaha Community Church Alter Fund (162 E Church St. Alapaha, GA 31622).
