Mary Zelda "Jack" Griffin, 97, of Alapaha, died Thursday April 28, 2016 at her residence.
She was born October 26, 1918 in Ben Hill County to the late Need Drew Whitley and the Late Bertha Brown Whitley. She was a homemaker and a member of New Griffin Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Mack Griffin who died in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son: Vernon Lamar Griffin.; daughter-in-law: Linda Griffin; brother: Wilbert Whitley; and a sister: Myrtle Hall.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Mary Frances (Danny) Howell of Enigma and Sara Nell (Jerry) Greely of Tifton; 2 sons: James Jason (Mary Kyle) Griffin of Enigma and Carroll Howard ( Mary Alice) Griffin of Valdosta; daughter-in-law: Barbara Griffin of Brookfield; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday May 1, 2016 at 3 PM in New Griffin Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Sims Youngblood and the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon. Interment will follow in Mt Paron Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 PM.
