Melton C. Stanford, 89, of Quitman died Wednesday November 4, 2015 in the Presbyterian Home.
He was born December 4, 1925 in Echols County to the late Melton Colquitt Stanford and the late Abbie Stanford. He was retired from Ryder Truck Lines in Jacksonville, FL as a truck driver with over 40 years of service. He was of the Baptist Faith and an Army Veteran who served in WWII. He was preceded in death by: 2 sisters: Ruth Kirkland and Margie Johnson; 3 brothers: Lewis, Russell and LA Stanford.
He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Sutton of Quitman; 2 daughters: Mary Dean Barnard and Shirley Staton both of Jacksonville, FL; son: Johnny (Lydia) Stanford of Jacksonville, FL; brother: J.L. Stanford of Nashville; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday November 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Murrell Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Wayfare Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 7-9 PM.
