Melvin Devant Luke, 84, of Nashville died Monday January 15, 2018 in Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 9, 1933 in Berrien County to the late William D. Buford Luke and the late Ollie Harper Luke. He was a retired roofing contractor, a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his son: Devant Luke; 5 brothers: Buck Luke, Cleatice Luke, Lamar Luke, Sam Luke and W.D. Luke.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Iris Luke of Cincinnati, OH and Shawna (Lee) Jones of Waycross; son: Dean Luke of Nashville; 5 sisters: Evelyn Griffin of Nashville, Lucy Tucker of Alapaha, Brenda Henderson of Ambrose, Marjorie Griffin of Jacksonville, FL and Betty Jo Perrine of Jacksonville, FL; brother: R.M. Luke of Nashville; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 20, 2018 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in New Ramah Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service.
