Monya Laverne Mathis, 58, of Nashville died Monday January 23, 2017 at her residence.
She was born June 1, 1958 in Hahira to the late William Daniel Singletary and the late Margaret Burkhalter. She was employed with Lanier Municipal Supply in Lakeland and a member of Cross Creek Church. She was a loving wife, mother and GiGi. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching softball games. She enjoyed working in her flowers and the many walks on the beach.
She is survived by her husband: Bruce Mathis of Nashville; 2 daughters: Danya (Chad) Shealy of Nashville and Kristy Mathis of Nashville; sister: Faith (David) Walker of Nashville; 2 brothers: Danny (Peggy) Singletary of Mississippi and Mark (June) Singletary of Lakeland; 3 grandchildren: Isabella "Punky" Shealy, Ty "Tybo" Shealy, and Aizlinn "Rudy" Mathis; step father: Garland Headley of Nashville; 2 sisters-in-law: Lawanna "Wonnie" Haskins of Pearson and Valerie "Tootie" Harper of Nashville; special aunt: Kate Gaskins of Nashville; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 26, 2017 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Morris and Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Empire Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday 7 to 9 PM.
