Obituary

Nancy Carol Vaughn Cole passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her Tifton, GA home May 2, 2025, on her 90th birthday.

Nancy was born May 2, 1935, to Henry Hicks Vaughn and Emma Kathryn Warr Vaughn in Ray City, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bobby (Bobbie Ann), Ricky (Sandra), and Vernon Vaughn, and her son, Lloyd Vaughn Cole.

Known as "Nancy", "Nan", "Miss Nancy", "Mom" and "Granny Cole", she was a loving and steadfast woman in all walks of life. She took on many hobbies throughout her life including cooking, baking, gardening and sewing, and was absolutely exceptional at all of them, but none were more important than her love for God and her family. She is survived by her children, daughters Carol June Cole and Mona Valeria Cole, and son Stanley Lee Cole (Kristie); her grandchildren, Lana Peyton Taylor (Cliff), Lauren Elizabeth Cole, Jenna Kathryn Cole, and Ethan Alexander Cole; and great-grandchildren, Deacon Rainier Taylor and Rowan Gallagher Taylor.

Nancy was a faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church in Nashville, GA for 33 years, was a Sunday School teacher for young adults, and hosted a Bible study in her home, influencing and encouraging countless individuals with God's Word and her personal testimony. After relocating to Tifton, she joined Wayside Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member until her death.

Nancy enjoyed nothing more than taking care of her home, providing delicious home-cooked meals and desserts for her family, and caring for others. After her children were grown, Nancy always stayed active and turned her talent for baking into a local cake business which thrived due to her meticulous attention to detail and passion for her craft. She then worked in the jewelry department at JC Penney, served at Tifton's Tea Time Bed and Breakfast, and finally, became a caring nanny for several children in Tifton. No matter what she was doing, everything she did was special and she served with warm commitment and devotion.

Nancy read God's Word fervently and one of her favorite Bible verses she often quoted was Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God..."

The joy of the Lord truly was her strength in every circumstance.

Nancy's funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 4 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Josh Campbell and Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating.
