Annie Wynell "Nell" Hooper Dorminey, 91, of Nashville, Georgia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Berrien Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born October 16, 1933, in Jasper County, Georgia to the late Riley and Ellen Sutton Hooper, growing up in Lenox, GA. She was married to the late AJ Dorminey for over 64 years. They built a beautiful life here in Nashville rooted in faith, love and family. They owned and operated a family department store here in Nashville, Dorminey's, for over 30 years. She touched the lives of many over the years at what the family lovingly called "the store".
Nell was a woman of strong faith and was a long-standing faithful member of Nashville Primitive Baptist Church and later in life Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was known for her excellent cooking and amazing baking as well as her kindness shown to others… a true Southern Lady. She will be missed by her family.
Nell is survived by her girls Devonne (Von) Nix (Randy) Of Magnolia Springs, AL, Dianne Browning (Rodney), Debbie Strickland (Chuck), and Dawn Garrett (Paul) all of Nashville. She also was the proud and loving grandmother to the late Judd Nix, Brandi Fulford (Dave), Erica Lehman (Nate), Kayci Cheney (Ben), Tanner Strickland, Maci Rewis (Lee), Chancey Moore (John) and Maddi Garrett and cherished great grandmother to Abbeyglen and Waverley Fulford, Talyn, Waylon, and Cannon Lehman, Reese, Palmer and Bennie Jaye Rewis and Garrett Moore. Also survived by her niece Pam Hooper Willis (Mike) of Monticello, FL and many extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held in the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr William Nash, Fellowship Home and Berrien Oaks for their care of our mother.
