Rev. Olem Bennett, 95, of Enigma, died Saturday November 9, 2013 in the Berrien Nursing Center.
He was born November 29, 1917 in Cook County to the late John Thomas Bennett and the late Thelma Hayes. He was a retired farmer and minister having faithfully served Berrien, Coffee, and Clinch counties for over 50 years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife: Audrey Gray Bennett who died in 2006, son: Gary Bennett, 2 sisters, and an infant brother.
He is survived by his daughter: Waunell (Rev. Garvie) Nichols of Enigma; 2 sons: Ronald ( Ruth )Bennett of Nashville, and Laverne ( Peggy ) Bennett of Enigma; sister: Mattie Bell Whiteside of Plant City, FL; brother: Edgar Bennett of Nashville; daughter-in-law: Elaine Bennett of Douglas; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday November 11, 2013 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Connell and the Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 7 to 9 PM.
