Obituary

Ora Mae Swain, 90, of Nashville, died Friday February 9, 2024 in the Berrien Nursing Center.

She was born March 7, 1933 in Berrien County to the late William Gaskins and the late Gladys Hardy Gaskins. She was a homemaker and member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family, gospel music and her community. She was truly a dedicated and devoted wife to her husband and their ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. John Robert "Junior" Swain, Jr who died in 2022 and was also preceded in death by a sister: Sherlon Lovett; brother: Ronald Gaskins.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Debra (Ricky) Prince of Metter and Brenda Swain of Nashville; son: Don (Vicki) Swain of Nashville; brother: James Darrell Gaskins of McMinnville, OR; 6 grandchildren: Rev. Deran (Darlene) Hardeman, Craig (Meshea) Hardeman, Caleb (Mandi) Hardeman, Eric (Valerie) Swain, Leanne Walden and Andrew (Sara Jean) Swain; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 13, 2024 at 4 PM in the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Simmons and Rev. Deran Hardeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Poplar Springs cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
