Pearl Bailey, 93, of Ray City, died Friday January 28, 2022 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, GA.
She was born August 2, 1928 in Berrien County, GA to the late Novella Griffin and the late Bennie Roberts. She was an excellent homemaker and worked at Nashville Textile for 24 years. Mrs. Pearl can be seen on YouTube making a red velvet cake at "Granny teaching me how to make a red velvet cake". She was preceded in death by her husband: James Emory Bailey who died in 2007 and was a member of Knight's Memorial Baptist Church. At the age of 93 she was the matriarch of Ray City. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Freddie Carol Cooley; 2 sisters: Juanita Jackson and Betty Jo Giddens; 2 brothers: Billy Roberts and Jack Roberts.
She is survived by a daughter: Linda Gail (Edward) Johnson of Conley; sister: Lila Mae Ford of Ray City; brother: Jimmy Roberts of Ontario, Canada; 4 grandchildren: Keith Johnson, Jim Johnson, Danny (Kathy) Cooley and Chad (Amanda) Cooley; a great granddaughter: Kennah Cooley.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 2, 2022 at 1 pm in the Knight's Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Spikes and the Rev. Debbie Cone officiating. Interment will follow in the New Ramah Cemetery in Ray City. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
