Obituary

Phillip Hoffman, Jr., age 78 of Alapaha, died Friday December 24, 2021 at his residence.

He was born June 11, 1943 in Waycross, GA to the late Phillip Hoffman and the late Henrietta Evelyn Minyard Rogers. He was the retired Postmaster in Alapaha for over 40 years, former Alderman for the Town of Alapaha, member of the Alapaha Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy. He was very instrumental in starting girls' softball at the recreation department and Berrien High School. He loved high school sports and refereed football games for over 20 years. He knew how to work sound systems, helping the town of Alapaha at many community events and did radio work for the former WNGA. He was preceded in death by a sister: Donna Rogers.

He is survived by his wife: Sylvia Williford Hoffman of Alapaha; 3 daughters: Missy Hoffman of Valdosta, Tracy (Roger) Whitehouse of Alapaha and Paige (Al) Cooper of Nashville; brother: James (Debbie) Rogers of Lake Park; 4 grandchildren: Chad (Sara) Whitehouse, Amanda (Scott) Gregory, Shelby (Austin) Vosburg and Brady Whitehouse; 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday December 27, 2021 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
