Phyllis Fletcher, 82, of Lakeland, died Sunday July 3, 2022 in the Langdale Hospice House.

She was born September 19, 1939 in Cook County to the late Daniel Lamar Fletcher and the late Ida Lou Giddens Fletcher. Phyllis grew up in Ray City, graduated from Berrien High School and attended Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in Atlanta. She worked as an RN at Askew Memorial Hospital and Berrien County Hospital. She also worked as an industrial nurse at Union Camp in Clyattville and retired from South GA Medical Center in 2002. She was a member of the Ray City United Methodist Church. She loved all sports, especially the Valdosta Wildcats, Atlanta Braves and her Georgia Bulldogs.

She is survived by cousins: Homer, Cory and Kathy Giddens of Lakeland, Cheryl (Crymes) Harrell of Perry and Allen O'Neal of Atlanta; her wit and knowledge will be missed by many of her dear friends: Wayne and Dorothy Mitchell, Katie Griffin and Jane Knight all of Nashville; Jerry Byrd, Barbara Culbertson, Sheelagh Panizzi and Jerry West all of Valdosta; Al Bridges, Nancy Brooks and Pat Miller of Lakeland; Buddy and Della Purvis, Elizabeth Skinner all of Ray City; Martha N. Dalhouse of Metaire, LA.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 9, 2022 at 11 AM in the Ray City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Mitchell and Rev. Stacy Hanson officiating. There will not be a formal visitation. Memorials can be made to the Ray City United Methodist Church or Langdale Hospice House. Family and friends are invited to gather at Swindle Hall in the Ray City United Methodist Church following the service for a celebration of her life.
