Obituary

Rayford Morton Odom, 88, of Nashville died Tuesday January 26, 2016 in Tift Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 9, 1928 in Berrien County to the late John Rennie Odom and the late Mary Effie Fender Odom. He was a retired farmer, member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Joel Carver; 2 brothers: Elwood and Lamar Odom; and a sister: Vera Yarbrough.

He is survived by his wife Hazel Ray Odom of Nashville; 3 daughters: Dolores (Wayne) Kimble of Nashville, Angie (Chad) McGee of Alapaha, and Teresa Carver of Broxton; a son: Roger Odom of Nashville; 5 sisters: Jeanette Brogdon of Nashville, Hazel Hall of Nashville, Melba (Ken) Vormelker of Painsville, OH, Mildred Schlict of Jacksonville, FL, Marjorie Brown of Jasper, FL, Evelyn Singleton of Mabelton; 5 grandchildren: Andrea (Roman) Baker of Germany, Chloe Kimble of Nashville, Taylor Carver of Broxton, Dalton Odom of Nashville and Tripp McGee of Alapaha.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 28, 2016 at 2 PM in Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Dukes, III and the Rev. Junior Swain officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-9 PM.
