Richard Allen Clanton, 75, of Lakeland, died Wednesday September 14, 2011 in the Memorial Hospital of Adel.
He was born May 22, 1936 in Lake Wales, FL to the late Bascom Henry Clanton and the late Edith Irene (Beadie) Giddens. He retired from Nashville Mills as a supervisor. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly Walker Clanton of Lakeland; 3 sons: Allen Clanton, Ricky Clanton, and Chris Corbett all of Lakeland; 6 daughters: Julia Leslie of Toppenish, WA, Linda (Matthew) McCardle, Karen (Howard) Freeman, Mary (Vince) Clanton all of Lakeland, Angie (Dee) O'Berry and Anna (Doug) Roland both of Nashville; 2 sisters: Mattie Brantley of Blythe and Barbara (Mac) Walton of Perry; sister-in-law: Wilma (Bennie) Tyson of Macon; brother-in-law: Kenneth (Nancy) Walker of Macon; 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 17, 2011 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Daughtry and the Rev. Aaron Clanton officiating. Interment will follow in the Vickers Church cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 7 to 9 PM.
