Richard Thomas May's Obituary
Richard Thomas May, 73, of Ray City, died Friday July 27, 2012 in the Langdale Hospice House.
He was born March 29, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Richard Lester May and the late Mabel Marie King. He retired SFC from the United States Army after 20 years of service in radio communications and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ray City First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a step mother: Edna Northup May.
He is survived by his wife: Marvyne Dupree May of Ray City; 2 sons: Richard (Christina) May of Lakeland, Fl and Scott (Cheryl) Gainey of Pelham, NH; 5 daughters: Robin (Kevin) Davis of Fort Hood, TX, Patricia Macri of Lake Wales, FL, Karen (Tom) Davis of Plant City, FL, Michelle Gainey of Sebring, FL, and Deanna (Bryan) Wixson of Petoskey, MI; brother: Kenneth (Lena) May of Brandonburg, KY; 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 4 step brothers: Bill Northup of Florida, Nels Northup, Murray Northup, and Michael Northup all of Michigan; and a step sister:
Nancy Northup of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday July 30, 2012 at 11 AM in the Ray City First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Peay officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Dam Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Ray City First Baptist Church.
